Looking down our High Street with a Takumar 200/3.5 wide open.

Whenever I get a new lens, I try this scene to see what the bokeh is like. I've stressed the pp because I was interested in showing more of that intricate globe of patterns in yellow. Don't think I've seen a pattern as complete as that from other lenses.

Rain and busy today, so reduced to an other comparison shot with 1.7. Had to go for B&W as light was a mix of natural and artifical and I just couldn't get white balance right.

This case goes clearly for 1.7. Both shot wide open. Bokeh on 1.4 is too soft for this and looses the shape. It also lacks contrast, thought I added a lot in PP, and goes a bit too misty.

Stuck inside all day and then I had a quick break to find a photo, will try harder tomorrow
