I visited Camera World in Bellville about 2 weeks ago, they had a barely used, but in excellent condition, Pentax mount, Sigma 300 f2.8, plus 1.4X converter, available for R25500.00.

Apparently someone that changed systems.

According to the salesman, the lens alone new is about R45 000, and the converter another +- R5000.

I was really tempted, but saving for something else at the moment

I checked out the forum review, and this lens rates a 10 for sharpness, and pretty high across the rest of the range. But my wife looked over my shoulder while I was reading the specs, and got that look...

I wonder if I can swop my DA*300f4 for this one... Would it be an upgrade? Oh LBA, you are a cruel mistress!
