Ocean going big-box vehicle carriers are not sleek mega-yachts, warships, or cruise ships, so how do you photograph them to make them look interesting?
I made this try.
The Grand Vega just finished delivery of a load of European new cars to the Autoport at Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, when we started out mackerel fishing. The fog was coming over Eastern Passage in the first photo. As we were fishing, the Grand Vega went from being in complete sun to completely disappearing in fog; all in 5 minutes. It's a good reminder that the small pleasure boats should stay out of the shipping lanes. Those are a couple of gannets in the last photo.
My fishing buddy shoots Nikon SLR, but he won't take his photo gear fishing because it might get wet. I take my K5 and DA*16-50 mm WR and get the shots.
