Despite having IRIS on my laptop for the past 6 yeras, I have only just started to use it. Even though the price is right (free), it is not an easy program to learn. I don't find it particularly friendly. Despite that, in one afternoon, I produced the best version of a Comet McNaught image than I have in 5 years of struggling with PSE6 and the Carboni Actions I have installed. I have used DSS to stack but have always had a problem trying to get the colour back. I'm hoping IRIS will do a better job for me. In fact, taking the time to learn the basics of IRIS has got me all inspired again. I'm currently converting an EQ mount purely to astro and hope to have it finished in time for the spring gales. Summer is coming and the Magellanic Clouds will be easily accessable soon. I do like the fact that IRIS can correct for distortion and am looking forward to doing some stacking and mosiacs.
