As you probably have heard, asteroid 2004 BL86 will be passing earth at 3X the lunar distance on Monday/Tuesday, Jan 26-27, 2015. It will be grazing the eastern edge of M44, the Beehive Cluster in Cancer (see below image). The moon should be young enough not to be too much of an interference. A longer series of exposures should show it up as a 9th magnitude streak. The deep red carbon star HIP 43905 to the left of the cluster is around 8th magnitude now (it is a variable) so it should be a bit dimmer than that. - Jack
