Good morning Rick,
no it had nothing to do with full well problems or light pollution. We have a guy in our german astro forum whose username is 30sec who says the shorter the sharper. This guy started a project to collect all images of M64 the forum collegues could produce to render a giant compilation with hundreds of hours intergration time.
Astrotreff - Astronomie Treffpunkt - M64 Gemeinschaftsbelichtung ?
M 64 is quite bright. And I wantet to set my focus on the core. So I tried out the short exposure for the first time just to see what comes out of it. And for the core it worked fine.
The M 64 project is on its way and shows very promising results. An in-between version shows very good detail of the central clouds and even good structures in the galaxy plane that I never saw before. The image in not disclosed yet because we still gather exposure time.
Cheers
Pete
