I was a long time 35mm film user that made the jump to Pentax Digital in 2007
I started out while I was in college with a Point & Shoot Instamatic in the early 70's jumping to a Zenit E in the mid-70's, K1000 around 1980 and a MZ-60 (which I still own and use occasionally)

I recently invested in a Film & Slide scanner and began digitizing my negatives After scanning over 600 slides along with close 1200 negatives with countless more to go my interest in film has been renewed. I think the MZ-60 is going to get some more use.

I am in a similar situation. I was a K1000 user from around 1982 until I got fed up with photography, well, fed up with carrying such a lump around anyway. Then about 5 years ago I got a K-r which got me back into photography again and recently I have dug out my old K1000 and intend to start using it again once I have done a DIY refurb on the seals etc.

Second thing to do is scan loads of my old photos and/or negs..... Which scanner did you use? I assume you highly recommend it after all the use you have made of it.

I have a Veho VFS-002 Film Scanner kit. It is described as a 5MP Scanner but I think that would be for 110 Instamatic film because according to the results I've been getting on a scan of a 35mm slide or negative at maximum resolution of 4800 dpi in Tiff mode images of almost 18MP.

The only thing I don't like is the scanner will only with the Acr-Soft Media Impressions-2 software that comes with it and there is no way in the software to control or adjust the level of auto colour and level correction done on the scans. So you must be prepared to do some post processing either with included software or Photoshop

All in all despite the short comings it is a pretty good buy for $100 Canadian Dollars. Here are some photos reproduced with scanner.The third photo was done with the K1000 and the others were done with the MZ-60

Those results don't look bad at all, I can get that scanner for 65 Euro here although I was looking at the dearer DigitNow at approx 100 Euro (scans prints too). I like the fact that they scan 35mm and 110 because in my "Middle years" I bought a few cheap instamatic cameras and have loads of rolls of film stored back in the UK.

Well I have until March (when I go back for a weekend) to make my choice, thanks for your input.

I’ve also just joined the group. I develop my own color and black and white film. My scanner is getting old now as I bought it New in 2005 or 2006, but it’s still kicking.

I shall be watching this discussion closely. Just bought my first scanner, looked at all the bits and bobs, and put it back in the box for now.
Am just about to process my first film in soup for the first time in 25 years.
