A couple of days ago at the 2019 Houston Auto Show (devoted primarily to new cars), I spotted this very nice example of a 1976 Porsche 912E. Produced solely for the United States for only one year, the 912E (essentially a 911 with a Volkswagen flat 4), was produced as a stopgap entry lever offering between the demise of the mid-engine 914 and the introduction of the front-engine, water-cooled 924. A few years earlier, the 912 was series manufactured with the 356 motor from '65 through '69; it was replaced with the 914 in '70.
Only a little over 2000 912Es were produced (who knows how many survived), so they're pretty rare on the ground. As far as I can recall, I've not seen one prior to seeing the one pictured here.
