Nice shot of a Juvenile Downy. Juvenile's have no red on their head like mom and dad do.

Yes, nice photo. But Downy and Hairy juvenile Woodpeckers do indeed have red on the top of the head, not on the nape as do the adult males. Juvenile males lose the red on the top of the head after about 6 weeks and the red spots appear on the nape then. Young females lose the red entirely. Since this is an autumn photo, this makes the bird in the photo a female.
