Well, I'd say so. Are you metro or public transportation bound? Because if you have a car, then there's a lot of very nice landscape you can reach by car in a daytrip, including several major civil war battlefields (I think the loveliest and most melancholy is Antietam) , plus many small historic towns in Maryland and Virginia. Even southern Pennsylvania is an easy reach, and then there's the Chesapeake. Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown are a long day's trip, but they add in colonial and Revolutionary war sites. Fort Frederick in Maryland adds in the French and Indian War, and there's a yearly re-enactment there that is very cool (and there are periodic re-enactments in the other places too, and Williamsburg is 24/7 365 re-enactment). There's also historic farms and homes scattered about all over the place----this area and New England were some of the first places settled by the European invaders, not counting the Spanish. Lancaster , PA, is a good full day's trip, which is Amish country. There's just a heck of a lot.
With overnight weekend hops you will really have your hands full.
