Just a reminder that this weekend is Potomacfest. The link below will take you to the Schedule of Events. Good shooting and keep those camera dry...

Good reminder Chuck...
Keep an eye on the Little Falls Gauge (
here
or
here
) to determine which side to shoot from which depends on
which line they are running
.
VA observation areas are best for the Center lines by the way...

Many thanks! I was trying to figure out which gauge to use. Hope to see many Pentaxians either in person or across the river!

Would be nice to attend, but I am spending 2 months in WA with my grandson (catching up on spoiling him). Won't be home until 30 July.

I'm hoping it RAINS Chuck... that'll keep the casual spectators down and we can still shoot and get better spots!

Possible change of plans. According to the event website they are going to run "The Fish Ladder" which doesn't make sense since the water levels are below parameters. If they do run this rather than the main channel photography opportunities are virtually NIL since the only viewpoint is the bridge over the fish ladder and MD severly restricts people's access "off trail." Even if one can get a spot on the bridge, shot angles are minimal.
I still plan on going over on the VA side (by 0730) in case they come to their senses and run the center lines.

Definate change of plans, on my part at least. Since they will be doing either the fish ladder or the center lines of the main channel tomorrow I am bowing out. I've shot this plenty of times so it won't hurt me to miss one. Chuck if you go and they are doing the main river, you need to come over to the VA side. Over half of the run is obscured from the MD Observation Deck.
