PF had issues last night and I could not upload anything.
So I did my daily 8 rounds at Zoo Lake today, (its 1.1km around the lake) and on my 2nd round, saw this young girl playing with a feather in her hair (she was there with her mom and brother), and friendly fellow that I am, I comment that she looks cute with it. Next round it was gone, and I commented again "where is the feather?" Come round 5, and I hear her running behind me, and I stopped to find out if she wanted something. And so she did. She wanted to walk with me around the lake. HUH? To which I asked if she had spoken to her mom about it? "yes, my mom says I can walk with you". Huh? So off we trundle, and I slowed my pace, and we talked, and she got a lot of education from me, about some of the birds, and also the SA Guide Dog Ass. were there training some of the Labradors. I even challenged her to close her eyes and pretend she could not see, and sure enough, she crashed into the pole fence
. So I was able to explain to her the value of Guide dogs. She is a lovely lively young girl. I did have a chat with her mom afterwards, telling her it is not advisable to allow her daughter to just go trundling along with a total stranger, though I was glad she was able to trust me, and I told her luckily for them I am a pastor, love children and would never harm them. But still, in present day SA, we have a horrible rape culture and abuse that is not the thing to do. Still, I was glad for the company, and bought her the ball to play with while they sat at Zoo Lake. Her name is Kristina and she just celebrated her 7th birthday last week.
And the newly renovated red boat.
