I live in NJ and work in NYC. Recently I bought a K-5 and I am mainly a prime lens shooter.

Hi everyone,
Brian T here in West Hempstead, middle of Nassau County.
I just figured I'd be the first to join in 2011.
Currently using a K10D but been shooting with Pentax since 1968 (or so).

Salutations. I live on Long Island, work in Manhattan.
Brand new to DSLRs (K-R). Old experience with film, and more recent practice with assorted digital point and shoots.

New kid on the block here
shoot a K-5 and 99 % of the time it's next to me on the seat in the truck or in my saddlebag.

Hello everyone,
I reside in the Bronx, New York and hope to be able to go on some of the photo outings but I need advanced notice in order to be able to be off from my job.

Hi gang,
Kevin from Farmington, CT here. I started shooting Pentax with my dad in the early 80s. Took a break from photography for a while but then picked it up again when my kids got into sports. I now shoot competitive cheerleading (talk about the challenges of shooting fast action in low light!) and B&W portraits with my K-5. Favorite lens is a Tamron 70-200 2.8 DI LD. Looking for a budget-friendly prime lens in the 85-105mm range for portraits. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the group. There's a large assortment of lenses that fit your needs (especially if you start including legacy glass). I would suggest something in the 85mm f1.8(ish) range of which there are a lot of recent releases in third party equipment. Try
Pentax Lenses by Sigma, Tamron, Zeiss, and more - Reviews and Specification Database - Pentax Lens Review Database
and look for Vivitar, Samyang, etc.
