yep after not touching a camera for over 20 years, since a K1000 SLR. Got one of these off EBAY for $51. Said it was hardly used and it really looks just like new, not a mark or piece of dust on it.
I have been having a blast with it so far except for the manual focus is hard compared with the old K1000. I have one auto lens, f 35-80 which seems to take nice pictures. I have not tried my m 50mm 1.4 or M 120mm, tried my series 1 vitar 70-210 but its way too heavy now and hard to focus.
Last week I picked up a ist DS in the same shape, may switch to this as it seems a little more modern feeling. Now hunting for a k100d to add to my starting collection.
Well, I have no soft ware and wonder what program you folks would recomend, something free would be the way to go or if I can get the Pentax software, if its any good.

Gimp is free and supposed to be a decent program, tho I never took the time to learn it.

Congrats! Some choices for decent free software are: Gimp, as mentioned above - full featured, but with a bit of a steep learning curve. Picasa, which works well & is easy to use. FastStone, a very nice full-featured editor. Good luck!
