I use Elements 10, and when opening up RAW files in Adobe Raw, I find the "auto" white balance setting to be pretty much right on most of the time. I occasionally tweak it a little bit to the warm side, but it's a matter of personal preference. The "auto" setting can take a bad white balance and move it to a very good starting point. Everything else is dependent on the specific RAW file you are working with.
