Hello group. I see no one's posted any pictures, so I thought I'd take the plunge.

Since I discovered, to my amazement, that my Nikon 20 f2.8, which won't meter at all on most Nikon bodies, including my D40 (damn Nikon!) works just fine on my K-7. Man I love Pentax. Now I need to really work on my shooting skills.









Anyone else using Nikon glass on Pentax bodies? Recommendations for lenses would be much appreciated. I have the 30 f1.4 also, but it's under-exposing badly. Haven't figured that out yet.

What kind of adapter do you use?

None, just put it on the camera with the "rabbit ears" at about 2 o'clock and turn slightly clockwise. That's what delighted me -- I was making myself crazy googling adapters and getting confused about flange distances and focusing to infinity etc etc, and I never thought to just try putting the lens on the camera. I assume I'm not damaging the camera doing this. It's an AI-S lens. I'm not clear about which other Nikon mounts, if any, would work like this.

I insert the nikkor with the lens dot 1/8th inch to the left of the camera dot. Rotate the lens 1/8th inch clockwise until it stops turning. I use pre- AI lenses which mount very securely for me. The protruding 1mm aperture ring compensates for the 1mm difference in registration distance of the Nikkor. They focus at infinity fine, because of this. The only Nikkors that won't work are those with a light baffle which protrudes more then 6mm beyond the bayonet, such as my 20/3.5. Film bodies would have possible mirror clearance issues, because of the larger mirror. My film bodies are M42, so I haven't been able the check this issue.
