That is too bad about having a lemon lens- I was glad to have a few sample shots before I purchased the lens here on the market place. I'm glad to have it iterated again by other users (who's photos outshine anything I've done yet!) that I made a decent choice for a decent price.

I will be taking this lens to France with my kit lens and my M 50mm f/1.7, and I'm feeling really good about this travel kit. I also picked up a Lowepro slingshot 100AW- what a great little bag!

I do find purple fringing to be rough at f/8.0, but at f/11, it seems to be a little less problematic.

One thing I find is that the zoom ring is really stiff- mine even squeaks a bit when making minor adjustments! stevbrot and duh vinci: does this get better after time?

My daughter's lens was a little sticky as it went to full extension, but that resolved with use.

@ virgilr:

Is shot #2 a crop of #1, or is it a separate zoomed-in shot?

cardinal-

It's a seperate shot, actually taken on the other side of the bridge, and that's at 200mm.

I'd be happy to post a 1:1 crop of a part of shot #1 if you'd like- some of the lower detail of the bridge pilings?

Tamron 70-300 LD Di

.

Nothing artistic, but these are some test shots of the Tamron 70-300 - they
serve to show the magnification & FOV of 70, 100, 135, 180 and 300mm. (never mind the dusty sensor please )

Focus is on the peeling paint spot under the highest tomato:

70, 300
