This is what we see right now (9:56 am) May 23, 2013, on my deck. I don't think I'll be out with the 400 taking pictures of song birds today. Taken through a double glazed door with my K10d and DA-L 55-300. Spot metered on the water boy.
The snowy owls may be out.

Hmmmm. White on white. A high key portrait? We were just disturbed. Our gazebo collapsed under the wet snow. It was one of those metal and canvas things. Once the snow is gone, we'll have a look and see if the frame can be straightened without breaking it.

May I join? I know, this shot is not ordinary use for FA*300+1.4TC. We were on a sea shore, I tried to catch some black kites with waving success, so my wife sat, a little tired. Then I took a portrait shot.
Lovely start!

I don't remember snow this late in the year before, and I've lived here since late 1981. Last week I was out mowing the lawn with my shirt off, and now I know it's under that white stuff somewhere.

I love portraits taken with long lenses, my Sigma 120-300 is a superb portrait lens.

Great stuff Steh. Both your wife & the Bee-eater (lovely birds).

I wanted to try something different to test the 60B so just before I packed it up the other day I shot a couple of these real quick as the sun was dropping. I think I need to shoot more than just the birds with it.

The flattening of the perspective makes it hard to see the technical detail (completely different question than aesthetics). That substation certainly works at some extreme voltage. The insulator strings are longer than I recall ever seeing in Australia.

Nice detail of the hardware.

Kind of subject that makes me worried about getting a tap on the shoulder while doing it because of the consciousness of nasty people. That kind of issue has reduced my use of long lenses recently.

I like them - especially the first and third one. Looking at the background of the third one, it looks like you are out shooting in some very rugged landscape!

Ditto (not that I'm not already nuts)

Nice change of pace, littledrawe.

Wild Turkeys

I live on a small acreage and we have a regular group of wild turkeys ranging from 5 to 50 that regularly frequent our place probably in part due to the fact that I scatter corn around the place periodically I have been watching these guys for years but I have never seen this before. F* 300/4.5

All my neighbor remove the canvas on the metal gazebos for the winter but I think we get way more snow than you do.

He probably does also, but by the time you need to be mowing grass he probably thought it was safe to put it back up?
