Wait until you try focusing a 1.2 lens with the OVF! LV is a revelation for this. Much easier to nail focus AND you can see what the bokeh looks like while you compose

That said its pretty much the only time I use LV

I need some advice: I purchased a Porst 55/1.2 from Ebay Germany and did not understand what the add said, this is about 3 months ago. It turned out that the lens is a PK mount, but it was reworked so that it only shoots in f1.2. It cannot be stopped down, so it works in Av mode in my K5 and Kx. I have taken some nice creative photos at f1.2. However, I would like to be able to stop the lens down and get some more usage from it. Does anyone know how to revert this operation? Does anyone have a Porst design? Thanks, Pepe

Works fine for me. Not on the K-x/K-r of course - that would be a real challenge, but then it's a real challenge at higher apertures than 1.2 as well.

PK lenses can only be used stopped down in M mode, not in Av mode. Switch to M mode, select aperture via aperture ring, press green button for metering, press shutter.

Porst is made by Cosina. Cosina is made by Tomioka.

Well, this lens can be used in Av and M with no difference, it will always be in f1.2. That is the reason it does not matter Av or M. I want to know how can i fix it back to be able to be stopped down.

Take some pictures of the mount also. Does it no longer have the aperture lever? Does the lever no longer activate the aperture? Are there any aperture blades left?

I opened it and will post photos tomorrow. I found that the iris open and closes when dissasembled, but it was stuck wide open. I also notice that one small string is broken. I put the whole thing back together and does not work at all. Now, it is worse, I found that some people complains about this Porst gets the aperture stuck wide open. I found a forum member fro Germany that posted photos of his lens and am trying to understand, they are not too many and not too clear. I wish I had a plan of the design.

I had Porst 55/1,2, but sold it due to very strong(almost psychedelic) CA at 1,2. Now I have Cosina 55/1,2 that is really wonderful lens. And the bokeh is much nicer than Porst. I wonder if this was made by Cosina/Tomioka why they make some lenses better than the others.
I know it is tempting to fix things, but I use my Cosina wide open exclusively so i would have left it stuck to 1,2. There are so many lenses for different purpose but 1,2 is rare and special. Pepe, I think you should find a master who can repair lenses. I am sure you can in California.
