Wow -- 82mm! That's bigger than the front element of any lens I own, including a 400/5.6 and a 20/2.8 (both film-era lenses). Does indeed look like fun, and with a shot like this that's a lot more important than IQ. (You might well want to pick up an 18-55, though, really good value and I expect one of the earlier, non-WR versions can be found for quite cheap.)
The front of the lens is ridiculous. I got a lens hood for it to help with the flare, and it was even more ridiculous. I don't bring it out into public because it looks like some kind of futuristic weapon!

My kit lens broke at the mount (plastic mounts ). I sent out for repair (years ago when I didn't know better) and they charged me a ridiculous price. This is when I learned about old Pentax lenses and these forums! I might still be using only the kit lens if it didn't break and I wouldn't be here!

Just a few months ago, now that I knew better, I ordered a new mount to attempt to repair it, and turned out a few of the tiny gold contact balls was missing. the lens acted erratically and was useless. If anyone has tips on substituting the gold contact balls (short off ordering new ones), I'm all ears!

Sorry for turning this into a rambling post.

K10D + Vivitar 75-205/3.8 Macro Focusing

Not really a macro but close focusing throughout zoom range, which makes this a very very usable lens. IQ is nice wide open or stopped down. Mine is the K-mount, push/pull zoom.

Nice one! I have this lens but with sticky aperture blades. I plan to get it repaired as it is too good to move on. Your image just confirms my thoughts-

Thanks Arjay! I think it has better all around sharpness/colors than my Pentax F 70-210. Would never part with this one either...

A few snowy pics from this morning with the Vivitar 75-205 f/3.8, all at f/8 and ISO 400. All taken in Segovia, Spain.

Can I post here?

I got a Tokina (Vivitar) 100-300mm f5 Close Focusing telephoto zoom lens (don't know who came first or who copied who)

But I just did a review with some test shots if anybody is willing to comment/critique ?

A few from my newly-acquired Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 CF (K02 version). Initially I was a bit suspect of this lens, but the more I use it the more I'm warming up to it.

Vivitar 75-205mm f3.8

I just received a pristine Vivitar 75-205mm f3.8 (Kiron) one-touch zoom lens, and it is an EXCELLENT lens! It seems sharp from f3.8 throughout its zoom range, the constant f3.8 throughout the range is nice, and the close focus makes it nearly a macro lens. I paid $25 for this lens, and am extremely happy!

Here is a dandelion I photographed late this afternoon under overcast skies, so not much light. Wide open at f3.8, 205mm, K100D Super, ISO400, handheld. I converted it to B&W because all the green grass behind it made for too much color and distracted from the dandelion structure. This is heavily cropped and resized.

I think this lens may be a bokeh monster.

I posted a review at Vivitar 75-205mm f3.8 Macro Focusing Lens Reviews - Vivitar Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database.

These 75-205 shots almost need a thread of their own - nice one Joe!
