dadipentak: I've been littering PF with kitten photos and, since I've been using my Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 HSM a lot, I might as well drop one here.

170mm, f4.5
I'm not much a of a fan of cat shots, but this one is excellent and stands out: framing and use of DOF are excellent. Tx.

Thanks, JT! It's been an interesting photographic exercise--in part because of the subdued lighting in the kitten pen. Bright light is counter-indicated while their eyes develop but I jury-rigged some foam board to bounce some sunlight in.

Nice shots

So what's your opinion about the lens and why did you stop using it?
I do like the Sigma 17-35 a lot - it's sharp, has good color and does well wide. I think it's loads better than the kit, particularly wide open. As I've started to build my lens collection though, it really doesn't fit too well. I'm usually going w/ the 12-24 f4, 28-75 f2.8, 55-300 and a fast prime or macro for outdoor adventures or else I'll bring the sigma 18-50 2.8, 50-135 2.8, and a fast prime for my indoor shooting. So basically, it just doesn't fit in the systems I use anymore. But if someone had a need for it in their kit, I'd say it does well and would recommend it for the right price (under $200).

The Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX DG HSM II, at the moment comparing it with it's Tamron counterpart. The Sigma has a slight edge in my opinion. Maybe a tad less sharper wide open but faster focussing and better handling. But have to use them more to decide which one I keep.
