Cosina 100-500mm 1:5.6-8 MC Macro

I got this lens for about $20. It has no zoom creep, I would rather call it zoom RUN.
No PP, just resized from RAW to JPEG

The lens

Two bird photo's taken at between 450+500, and f5.6, with my K-x, using CIF
1. At 1/1000, ISO 1250

2.
This is a heavy lens, I still have to try it hand held

Wow what a steal, congrats on the great deal. You will make RioRico so jealous. 20 is probably the scrap metal price alone for that beast.

I must say I do take his advice of bid low and bid often! The problem with this lens is that I'll most probably have to go to gim before I can try decent hand held shots, and that would cost an arm and a leg

Promaster Version

I bought the Promaster 100-500mm f5.6-f8 (Same lens - different badge) back in May and decided it was time to try it out. I bought the lens off Craigslist for $20 and about $20 in gas to pick it up.

The reason I got it so cheap was that there was an issue with the barrel and I could only operate the zoom from 120-500mm. When I got it home, I discovered that the barrel had a big screw mark under the collar thread that attaches to a tripod. I figure someone tighten the collar to tight or someone's tripod screw was too long. Either way, it probably put a flat spot on the barrel. To add insult to injury, when I was removing the Ricoh pin, the steel ball that locks the aperture in the A position fell out and turned my A lens into a M lens.

Enough talk, here are a few shots I posted in the long lens club (with mono-pod).

Somewhere in the 400-500mm range

300-400mm range

Not really sure.

500mm with a little crop

Post processing wasn't much different from my normal processing with my Kit lens.

Picked this lens up in late summer this year for just under $100. The lens is DEFINITELY worth more than that for the results it produces.
