Nice pics.
How do you think the FA 400F5.6 performs against the Sigma 50-500.
ActuallyI liked your 50-500 images better although these images have more contrast to them.
What do you think?

Harish

Hi Harish. Thanks. Here's my comparison with the 50-500.

FA*400
Pros: More contrast, Sharper, Bokeh is round at all apertues, Lighter
Cons: Longitudinal CA

50-500
Pros: Versatility, Faster focussing, Negligable CA (even wide open)
Cons: Vignettes wide open, Softens noticably from 420mm

In terms of the focussing, I find I have to manually focus the FA*400 when the lens is near its close focus limit.

Buse à queue rousse / Red-Tailed Hawk [Buteo jamaicensis] - (Juvenile)

The hawk was on a telephone line and suddenly dived into the underlying ditch.

Original photo wasn't that good. High ISO, Backlit cloudy conditions caused purple fringing, which is normal with that lens.

I removed the tel line in the back and fixed fringing in PP. Medium crop to better fill the frame.
Pretty happy with the result. I tried B&W conversion, but with color it look better imo.
