Pentax DA 14mm f/2.8 samples

A special purpose lens, using it is best under settings where the extreme wide field and great depth of field can be featured.

It shows foreground and background in dramatic setting.

Sometimes you need a little bit more in the frame and 16mm won't cut it.

The wide field gives elbow room in crowded situations.

Diffraction spikes are not the strong suit. By the same example, landscapes are ok.

Portraits can be fun, though.

The lens is very versatile and I like the resistance to flares.

Great for architectural shots and interiors...

North Lonsdale United Church, North Vancouver, BC:

K5 and the DA14mm f2.8 @ iso 80, about an 8 second exposure @ f16 manually focussed on the hyperfocal point, mirror lockup and on a tripod, of course. RAW processed in Photoshop CS6.

This shot took about an hour to set up in camera because of very difficult camera positioning right against the back wall of the church, and final composite had 26 adjustment layers to get what I was after. Still al bit of distortion because I had to tilt the back of the camera slightly to get it all in, symmetry not quite perfect but could not move the extremely heavy furniture by myself.
