SMC-M 100mmF4 Macro

It occurred to me that there were no samples for this lens, which is pretty much the same as every 100/4 macro since the super tak, except for coatings, and the fact that some lens series, such as the K series have a 52 mm filter

SHot with the *istD, at about F8-11 using the internal flash and TTL flash metering.

edit note this had high pass sharpening in PSP X4 applied with a radius of 10 and a strength of 70

I have a simple goal, I have been maintaining an up to date list of all lenses (see the sticky) and I intend to add any of my 52 lenses that are not presently on the list.

Lowell: Sharp shot!

https://www.box.com/s/57451a658617b048ea10

"SMC PENTAX-M DENTAL MACRO 1:4 100mm" with its AF080C ring flash.
On the ist ds in TTL mode, iso 200 f/16 and 1/15 sec to get the DOF, with a small halogen light to the left.
Focus conf by the ist ds .
The halo shadow by the ring flash as is being discussed on another ring flash thread now.
Uh_Oh.. the driver must be Aussie; he got in the passenger seat for the photo-shoot!

Nice Macro Shot!

Hi Lowell,
Fine macro shot, that's a sharp lens. I think it's the best $100.00 macro available.
Thanks for posting!

I've had this lens since the mid 1980's. Next macro will be my Tamron 90mm52BB

It is indeed a fine lens. I find I can crop heavily and still have a sharp image...........best lens I have for under 100 bucks.

I used this lens with cheap extension tube ($5 from ebay), and with bounce flash. Pictures were taken at f/8-16
