Champerico is on the Pacific Ocean side of Guatemala. As I discovered, sunsets near the equator can be very brief. The wharf in the background is used to launch the shrimp fishing fleet. The line of attention from the boys playing soccer to the swimmers to the setting sun was a stroke of luck for composition. I also like the competing lines that fan up from the beach - the shore line to the waves to the horizon. No tripod here - the camera was sitting on the edge of a table in a bar overlooking the beach. All of these pictures are straight up, with no post-production, except for some judicious cropping. |
