The Iceland Coast Guard has four imposing vessels, the largest being - ICGV Þór (Thor). The ship (seen here) is 307 feet long and is powered by two Rolls Royce Marine engines. Top speed is 20.1 knots (37.2 km/h; 23.1 mph). Its armaments include a 40mm gun and two 12.7mm machine guns plus a helicopter. The Coast Guard service provides coastal defense and marine search and rescue.
