I read through my post but I don't believe I have tried to shoot any subject at infinity. When I have time, I will try to shoot at infinity and see if AFA 1.7x will focus at infinity. You can use black anodized non-infinity M42 adapter, just sand or scrape off the anodized coating on the adapter to short the contacts on the AFA 1.7x.

Having said this, I don't believe the AFA will show focus confirmation in a moon shot application. At combined max aperture of f6.8, the subject needs to be very well lit and very contrasty in order for AFA to confirm focus. Moon shot at night does not fit the above criteria most of the time.
