Hi Mike,
It's been a few years since I met you at the Shenandoah National Park get-together; 2008, I think. Anyway, at that time I think you were sporting a brand new Bigma 50-500. Do you still have it and what is your opinion of it? I'm looking at the 150-500. I live on a creek that's about 100 ft wide and my 55-300 is not enough lens to reach across the creek to shoot ducks, egrets, herons, and the like without having to do some agressive cropping. I'm wondering if the 150-500 will do the trick and what the IQ with it and my K7 will be. What can I expect for under a grand?

Hello Mike
I'm trying to send you a private message but not being able to do so. How come?

Mike,
It was great to meet you at the Rennaissance Fair! I didn't think I'd stumble into anyone else even shooting a Pentax, much less a forum member while I was there.
I hope your shooting was productive, and thanks again for letting me play with your K20D/60-250 SDM.

Hey, Mike-
Do I read this right, that the gang is considering spending three days near Harper's Ferry?

Mike,
I live in Lynchburg VA, and wonder if you guys ever traipse down our way with your photography group. I have several co-workers who shoot, but none of us are organized in any way. Do you find that fellowship helps your photographic pursuits? I have to admit the most fun I've had shooting (so far) has been with another photographer. Anyhow, love your shots. I aspire to shooting better photographs, its becoming an obsession.
Take care,
Gene

Mike:
I'm new to the Pentax Forum. I discovered a photo you took of Freda, your Mom's best friend. Can you give me pointers on how you shot that photo. It looks like you might have had a light source behind here that was directed toward her. I could also use some help in photographing portraits when there is a strong back light, like someone sitting at a window. My experience in photography has been prettly well limited to crime scene photos, so, I'm just breaking into new areas. I shoot with a Pentax K10D and have a variety of lenses (none of which are fast lenses...(Pentax 28-80 1:3.5-5.6 / Sigma 28-200 f1:3.8-5.6 / Pentax 18-55 f 1:3.5-5.6 / Pentax 100-300 1:4.5-5.6 / Sigma 50 1:2.8 Macro)
Thanks,
J.T. Hayes

Mike,
I was just wondering which lens did you get the most use out of during the battle? Naomi and I were talking and we thought that having a bigger lens would of been the way to go. I've never shot anything like that so I didn't know what to take exactly. I think my next purchase may be a DA*300
