I shall attempt to replicate your fix to my pentax MZ-5n. I just wanted to make sure it is the correct symptom. When I put in new batteries, the film advances. Same thing when I press the shutter half way in, or press any other buttons. In the viewfinder, I see nothing, but the LCD correctly displays when I switch to Program or Manual mode.

I read carefully your step by step instructions. Do you mind if I emailed you in case I run into something unforeseen?
