Thanks for the response. Your one lens travel aspiration is inspiring. I travel much the same way you do with only one bag. Right now, I primarily travel with the DA 15 and DA 35 (with sometimes the M135). I am thinking of adding the DA 70 to the mix (and leaving behind the M135) or maybe the DA 21 as a one lens option (with occasional 21/70 use). I'm excited to hear how it goes -- best of luck...

It will be hard to not be tempted to take something else like a fast 50, but the plan is only the 21mm. I made this decision because all I am taking is a backpack. I will be moving from city to city pretty quickly. The 21 one offers the best combination of wideness, close focus, and size, and speed. It will be wide enough for landscapes in the Alps and candids of my traveling companion in tight spaces like train compartments and restaurants. It will focus close enough for flowers and the tight spaces mentioned above, and it is small enough to not be a hassle to carry around. And f/3.2 is plenty fast for 99% of situations. I have lenses that are more versatile, but they are also much bigger. Hope this helps. I will let you know in June how it went.

I read in a recent post that you acquired the DA 21 for a trip to Europe, and are considering only taking the DA 21 with you. Any thoughts on this subject would be appreciated as I have often thought about doing something similar. E.g., do you think the DA 21 would be wide enough? Please let me know how it goes if you decide to do it...
