Thanks... answers the question.

For product photography you want a lens with low distortion, low vignetting, consistent edge to edge resolution when stopped down - you know where I'm going with this, The Pentax DA70mm f/2.4 would be an excellent choice. I use the Pentax FA77mm f/1.8 Limited for similar purposes.

Hoping you can answer a quick question about a lens for product photography. I don't have a huge budget, and would like a lens that offers sharp images. I read some of your suggestions in other threads, so I know what you would likely suggest, however...
The Sigma 17-50 2.8 is now available for under $400. Do you think it would be suitably sharp or should I opt for something like the DA70? I would likely get more use from the Sigma, but that isn't the primary concern.
Thanks for your time.

They are both optically identical, the differences between the DG and the EX DG are mostly cosmetic: the use of different rubber grips on the zoom and focus rings are different on the DG Vs EX DG. There are additional coatings on the rear element to reduce flare and ghosting on the EX DG - apart form that: they are essentially the same. I don't think the DG version really warrants a price premium.

Hello from Iowa.Would you happen to know the difference between the DG and DG EX version of the Sigma 100-300 F4 APO lens? I want to know if the EX version is worth more money than the DG version without the EX nomenclature. The pentax forums lists the DG EX APO version but makes no mention of the DG APO lens.
thanks for your time...
