Hi Michael,
I've been out of the country and just returned. I'm a bit jet lagged.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will check Wordpress.com and Blogspot.com in the next few days. I have never done anything like this before so I'll see what tools they provide to facilitate starting a blog. $15 is manageable.
Best regards,
Michael

Hi mjkwee. I think that starting a place related blog like myporttownsend.com is a great idea. It's gotten me out shooting when I otherwise might not have and I've made some new friends during the project.
It doesn't need to cost you anything to get started. You can sign up for free blogs at either wordpress.com or blogspot.com (Blogger). I have a preference for Wordpress, which is a little more powerful and a little more complicated, but Blogger is very popular. If you want your own domain name, like I've done, Wordpress is a good choice and the cost is $15 per year. That's certainly not required.
For me one of the most rewarding parts of blogging is that of being part of a community. I regularly look at other photo blogs and comment. I've gotten to know people from all over the world that way.
best,
michael

Hi Mike,
I was browsing the forum and I stumbled into your blog. I am impressed with what you have done to capture your home town of Port of Townsend.
Recently, I've come to the conclusion that I should capture as much as I can of Sunnyvale CA where I live. I want to learn what is the best way to go about starting a similar project? Any recommendation as to where and which web site I should consider? Budget is always an issue for me being handicap and unemployed.
A bit about me. My handicap was a result of a stroke I suffered 4 years ago. It took me a while to get into Photography because I am paralyzed on my right side. This posed a challenged with operating a camera especially the right-handed shutter and my limited mobility. Until a friend encouraged me to consider a Pentax dslr last September of 2009. I then re-discovered my love for photography after a very long absent (since high school - 30years ago).
Thank you in advance for any thoughts and recommendations.
Michael
