Hi Peter,
answering your question about polishing a scratched viewfinder:
I got acrylic polishing paste (to polish acrylic plastic, which is rather soft) and put a little bit on a cotton swab and started polishing the multi-scratched viewfinder carefully (takes some time). It will go uniformly blind first - you gotta do that til all scratches have disappeared.
Then, put less and less polishing paste on the swab and/or dissolve with water.
Between every polishing, clean the viewfinder with water.
Remember it is just like cleaning your fine lenses: If you contain any dirt in the polishing, you will create new scratches :-(
My viewfinder now is a little bit worse than before, but OK for me.
Good luck :-)
Georg
PS: If you have friend in jewelry or a dentist they probably have all those nice little polishing tools
PPS: A simple substitution of the plastic viewfinder optic is an option, too, but I did not find out how difficult and how expensive it is

Georg,
I read that you once had a K100D with a scratched viewfinder, and that you were able to use acryllic polishing paste with cotton swabs. I have a K100D Super with the same problem, and would also like my viewfinder to be more clear again. Could you explain what you did to remove the scratches, and how it looked afterwards?
Regards, Peter
