The details from D300 are just amazing.

Pentax k20d or k10d sensors are geared for more dynamic range in the shadow area instead of highlight performance.

Like you, I am patiently waiting for Canon 5d MK II price to come down. After all, I would stick with D3 if I had that kind of money.

A few pentax street candid shooters like Doyle Shafer has already used D3 and he is sooo happy wtih just two lenses, 85mm f1.4 and 50mm f1.2

It was more a case of the product simply didn't do what I needed it to. I was losing shots, thus work and money. CRK weren't exactly forthcoming with help when it came to lenses though, I will admit.

For the sort of heavy sports shooting I do the lineup is great, and you can actually get them! Unlike Pentax and even third-party manufacturers. Also Nikons Pro Service is unbelievably helpful.

    I'll get a D700 mid-year, then a 300 f/2.8 after that, depending on how things are.

Oh, and with regards to the rendering of images, I more meant I like the way Pentax's carry details in the mid-to-low tonal areas, something I struggled with when I got the D300. They are a far more complex camera than the K10/20D.

Cool stuff that you like D300. CRK is a stupid company to let you go as a pro. I doubt they care about pentax products at all.

I was almost going over to get D300 until I realised that the lens selection were not really my cup of tea. Image quality IMHO is better than k20d image rendering though ...

I know where you hang around and I will watch out for you in these two forums.

    Hey James,

Sorry, don't come on this forum very often.

The D300 is simply amazing. In the coming month or so I will I will write a comparison review and post it up here.

I still like, almost prefer, the way the Pentax renders images, and in-camera SR is great, but pretty much everything else is better, simple as that.

    Cheers, Adam.

How's Nikon D300? The price is coming down and I see that you had a blast with it.

The sensor is really good in that camera and the details are just simply amazing, right?
