Picture 13 of 18 from Album 12 Days of Christmas
Christmas visitor: This is an extra from Day 5. I included it for story telling purposes and a tie in for the Day 6 photo. I came upon this scene quite by accident. This is Kevin Brown with his horse Jack, greeting a little visitor. Kevin has a buisness: Rocking B Carriage Company, and was at the local Mall giving wagon rides for the weekend. I got to know Kevin and his family and they are fantasic people. The horses are Percheron draft horses and were so very patient and gentle.

Nice. The patience and gentleness of the horse is put into effective contrast by the movement of the people in the background.

Sometimes the best shots are the ones found by accident. I don't have too many of those around here when I'm holding a camera. Nicely done!

Nice capture. It strikes me as the reality and perspective for the girl's life long memory of meeting that horse at Christmas. So much more was happening in the background and between the horses, but she will simply remember the tactile sensation of the smooth coat and the look of the gentle eye.

    GREAT WORK!!.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. Wish my, hand held, manual focus skills could have done this scene real justice.
Jmschrei, you should have seem the crush of people surrounding these big guys from time to time and they still behaved themselves.
JeffJS, I now have LBA for a fast zoom lens. so that I don't have to back into traffic to try and get a good angle.
Stillshunter, I am honored with your interpretation of the shot. You have a way of writing that is as compelling as your photographs.
