Hi, Johan! Actually I do know of an excellent chili recipe, and it is available on the net. It is extremely good and very satisfying. Everyone here that I've served it to enjoys it.

If you have a favorite local recipe you'd like to share with me here in Texas, please feel free!

    Hi -
If you mean the Tokina-made 21/3.8 that's often branded as Lentar, Vivitar, Soligor etc, I measure the rear element as protruding about 6mm from the lens base, about 1mm past the edge of the M42 mount. The SuperTak 50/1.4 extends about 8.5mm; the SuperTak 55/1.8 extends about 7mm. So if you can fit the Taks to your Canon, the 21 should be no problem.

Johan, mine is the Vivitar version, a T4 mount, and as it is an interchangeable mount the incompatibilities should be minimal. I don't know about the 5D, and sorry to say I'm between houses so the lens is packed up in storage.

Is yours the T4? Here's an interesting little blog on fixing the lack of A/M switch - I have an adapter that has a push button stop down and simply put a wide rubber band around it.

Worthless? Yes, unless you have a later copy of the 5D (serial number starting with at least a "2", never a "0" or "1". The later versions had much better LCD screens. The previous ones were all very off-color and washed out.

As for the viewfinder: I just (two days ago) installed a custom focusing screen. I just forgot that I had a couple of them lying in my cupboard. Installation was a matter of minutes and now I have a viewfinder reminiscent of that of my old ME-Super. Great! My pictures in the Takumar club are the result of that.

The 4th generation lenses are very similar optically to the 3rd generation lenses, but they have a rubber coated focus ring instead of a metal one, and the text on the front of the lens was abbreviated to "SMC Pentax", probably to save space and make the name faster to engrave (my guess). There were also some mechanical changes but they only really matter if you are using the lens on an Electro Spotmatic or an ES II screw mount body.

Your 3rd generation lens is a bit more desirable for colour photography than the earlier two "Super Takumar" generations and will perform essentially the same as the later "SMC" version.

(I had to split this into 2 parts because it was more than 1000 characters)

Different generations of the Takumar 50mm f/1.4 had different names.

The first two versions are both labelled "Super Takumar" on the front ring. They have a yellowish coating on the elements that works well but isn't as advanced as the coatings on later lenses. These two versions have six aperture blades. The 1st generation has 8 elements and is relatively rare; the 2nd generation has 7 elements (like all later versions) and is fairly common.

Your lens is a 3rd generation if it says "Super-Multi-Coated Takumar" on the front. These lenses have a more advanced coating that I believe has more of a purple colour. As a 3rd generation lens it is supposed to have 8 aperture blades. In conversation, the name is often abbreviated to "S-M-C Takumar" (which is shorter to type) to distinguish it from the 4th version with the same coatings

Nej, jag har ingen profil på FS. Brukar surfa dit ibland men jag hänger hellre på detta ställe:
Minhembio forum -> Digitalkameror & Videokameror
