Thanks for the 'like' on the wide-angle lens/gun terminology debate. I couldn't help myself and stirred the pot a little with lots of weapons references. Anyway, good luck to you in your chosen career. We in the safety of our lounge rooms are becoming increasingly aware of the risks you blokes are facing on a daily basis.

My invitation has no expiry date. Ifigured you might be involved in one of the Shoalwater Bay exercises some timeand get a few days leave in Brisbane.
I think I may have said that we live ona 6,000 acre sheep and cattle property ("ranch" in US-speak!). It was very rundownwhen we got it, and we are working on bringing it back into shape. Actually, Icould do with a team of combat engineers with all their equipment to help out! There isa lot to see and do there because the place also has quite a bit ofpre-European archeology. We are trying to start a tourism business based onthat. The website should be up a couple of months.

Oh, I see you are serving in A'stan. I have been there several times myself but not in uniform. We rebuilt some of the communications infrastructure at Kabul Airport after the civil war and again after the 2001 invasion. We did the same in Baghdad in 2003 but I am retired now.

Thanks, Heie! But I think you've probably got the edge in this competition. It will be well-deserved if you win -- I find myself hearing your words whenever I'm out shooting handheld nowadays. Specifically "meaty part + bony part" > "bony part + bony part". Seems obvious, except it's not; not until you know about it!

Anyway, I'll be excited to see some of your star trail attempts from abroad. Keep us posted on your photographic exploits when you can and stay safe over there!
