Picture Christmas Break Oregon (K5 + da14/2.8)
Pentax k5 and the Pentax Da 14mm f/2.8

Saw the amazing results that the Lee Big Stopper (cuts out 10 stops of light) did, so when it arrived on my doorstep in Portland, I headed to the beach (thanks BH). Long exposures during sunset are not scientific, the photographer has to account for a loss in light as the sun goes behind the horizon so calculating the correct exposure is a little guess and check. In addition to guessing for the exposure time, the photographer only has 2-4 photos during sunset because each photo takes anywhere around 4-15 minutes. In the time before an exposure, finding a composition is a lengthy but crutial process because the photographer cannot see through the 10 stop filter, so mounting and unmounting takes up time. I personally had the adrenaline rush many photographers dread when a sneaker wave came up and splashed my tripod. nothing happened except for a double exposure because the wave shifted the tripod in the sand. My next purchase for long exposure on the sand are little sheets of plywood to prevent the tripod from sliding or sinking. All photos were taken during a warm (color) Cold (temperature) foggy day on Indian Beach Oregon.

  Harris Hawk comes to Class
A cool harris hawk was shown in class today as things wrapped up for the year. It eased our minds into thinking about the final. Pretty cool and beautiful raptor.
