"How are you finding the Auto-Takumar 55s and that beautiful Super-Takumar 50? Simon"
Forgot to answer ... great so far, but have not really put the 55s through their paces yet. Really looking forward to the ST 50/1.4 ... gorgeous lens that should produce equally gorgeous captures ... will share when some are ready! Later, J

Salut Simon,
Thanks for your message and enjoy your K-3. I am hoping that I can hold off until a FF appears ... would keep the K-5 as a second body. I sent my MX and Spottie F to Eric H for CLA, because I want to do more film this year. Both bodies are in excellent shape and merit the extra $ in my books ... "keepers" for my collection. I may have scored a super (non-Pentax) lens, but "mum" is the word until it arrives at my door ... the check has been sent and now awaiting the post to arrive. Cheers, J

>> "...plus I've just got a "real meter" to try!"
It was a trick to realize just how REAL in-camera spot metering could be. If you've ever used one of the hand-held meters with TTL viewing you'll appreciate that in-camera spot metering duplicates the process. It takes a little patience and habit building to read and analyze the spot data in the camera VF in the same manner as a hand-held meter but it's actually the same deal.
One other trick you might find use for: throw the view finder totally out of focus and make a center average reading. Works very much the same as a generic selenium cell hand-held meter.
But I do believe there's a special attitude and understanding that goes with hand-held metering too. Used Pentax spot meters aren't too expensive today and can be readily re-sold for what you pay for 'em. A few months playing with one can be very enlightening.

Hi Simon, thanks for all the kinds words this month, I was equally impressed with what you were producing! I have to admit, when I started this month's challenge, I wasn't sure what I had gotten myself into by using only the 200 for a whole month, it sure was a doozy. With the K28/3.5 on the way, I hope I can get some photos as nice as what you have achieved with your 28. Happy New Year to you, and your loved ones, and I hope 2014 treats you well!
Cheers,
-Austin
