Hi Tony - i'm looking at your post about the slow write/view speed. My suspicion is that there might be an issue with the SD card you are using, i might suggest investing in a new/faster card if possible.

Just realized that I have the k-5 outfitted with a pristine katz eye plus split prism focusing screen. for some extra $$ i'll just leave it on the cam, otherwise i'll take it out and put the original pentax screen in it

Tony, just a thought here. You're posting some very nice macro stuff on the Social Groups - Macro' site but you'd get more 'exposure' using the *Macro* lens club

The stated goal for the Social Groups is ideally oriented toward discussion rather than album display - "...the place to share your ideas and techniques on macro photography, to ask questions, and to start discussions on this topic. "

Also, you'd also find it easier and less 'cluttered' to add multiple images to an existing thread or adding new images via a reply to an existing thread.

    Keep shootin' and showin'.

I did answer but it isn't showing for some reason. Any bright part in the background is seen as a distraction as it draws your eyes away from the subject which is not what you want. It could be light bouncing off a leaf or a reflection. These can usually be cloned out of the shot or cropped out if necessary. Hope this answers what a distraction is.

If you have something very bright in the background it will draw your eyes away from the subject which is something you don't want to happen and this is called a distraction.
