I have never used an external intervalometer. I have an external shutter release cable (Vello) that I have used for long exposures and I recommend the Vello brand (at B and H). I really would like to tell you if I knew, but I would not want to because I have not used one. I am not sure how the camera would react as opposed to using a shutter release cable. Also, on page 87 (referenced by page 65, "Astrotracer") of my K-3II manual it lists interval shooting as being unavailable during the use of Astrotracer and mirror lock up shooting as available.

Hello, I noticed from your posts that you have a K-3II and use the astro-tracer function. Do you happen to know if you can use this with an external intervalometer?
