Well, my name's Craig, and I've been dating an Aussie girl for about two years now; we met in New Zealand in 2006, and after 2 months of wandering through the Northern Territory and down the East Coast, I flew to Perth to meet up with her, find a job and spend the rest of my time there. 6 months after I left she followed me here, and is now enjoying a proper Canadian winter. Waiting for me to finish my degree so we can hopefully return and settle back in WA.
Before I left for Aus a family friend gave me his MX and a couple of primes and zooms. Shot tons of C41 on my trip, bought into digital, did some strobist style shoots here, got bored with digital and went back to film.
I'd like to see that straw bale house, I read some articles about eco-homes and the like where the owners were trying to be self-sufficient, growing gardens, setting up rain barrels. Guess I friended you because I kept running into you in threads, and you commented on my posts. So here's to common ties.

G'day, my new friend,
I haven't had a request before so I'm not sure what the drill is. Enough to say that I'm honoured that you'd want to befriend an old fart like me. My name's Les and I'm married with no kids. Happily retired and living on a remote island off the coast of South Australia, in a straw-bale house that we built ourselves. Keeps us snug against the Westerly gales.
I got into photography seriously when I was in art school in the 1960s and enjoyed it for the next 30 years or so. Then had a break and kind of forgot about it until this year, when I got back into it. My photographic gear is modest. A K100DS with the kit lens and a Sigma 70-300, plus a K1000 with a collection of M primes and a terrible old Makinon 28-80 macro zoom. Currently I've set myself a project of recording all the old windmills, farm sheds and ruins in the Eastern end of the island, where I live. Mostly I'm shooting b&w film, but some colour too.
That's me for a bit. Catch you round the forum, mate.
