Thank you, John, I have received the inoperative camera and my grandchildren are now waiting for the nearest opportunity to gather with me and "vivisect" the body to learn what's inside.
I'm sure this exercise will significantly broaden their understanding of how everything works.
In my childhood I crafted photo- and even movie camera with all those claw mechanisms and obturators that I also made by myself. I think such a knowledge is very important for kids in our automated era when their brains are accustomed to nothing but primitive operations like "push the button."
I also believe that such disassembling-reassembling lesson can encourage kids to photography and creative thinking in general.
