It is better to put this in a public thread but yes the DA* lenses have quick shift which decouples the focus ring from focusing to a degree. It isn't focus by wire and it isn't like a non-quick shift lens where focus is more directly coupled. The focus clutch allows a little bit of slack movement before it engages as far as I have seen.
