P52-3-2 Architecture - Modern
Posted By: Rense, 08-04-2010, 02:06 PM

The second week of this third year of Project 52 we will continue shooting 'Architecture',
but now we'll concentrate on MODERN subjects. What kind of modern architecture do
you meet this week, and, more important, how can you make a appealing exposure of it?

Time Frame: pictures for week 2 are to be taken and posted between
20100807 and 20100815, so from August 7th - August 15th, 2010.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-3 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax
cameras are allowed
. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc.
, for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active
to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20100731 to listed closing date is acceptable for the two
“Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-3-51 & 52.

Additional Information, including the scheme with subjects: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/10506...-year-3-a.html

I hope we'll have a good year together!

Rense I think this is a mistake:

20100707 and 20100815, so from August 7th - August 15th, 2010.

I'm guessing 20100807 is correct??

Bump! This one is active now. On request, I lengthened the period in which photos can be taken and submitted to include two weekends. This means that this one (ARCHITECTURE MODERN) is open for entries, as wel as P52 of last week (ARCHITECTURE OLD)!

Yeah, I thought about it. I think it's good to update it every week with the winners. Can I post photos there, or is DanLoc the only one who can update it?

I guess I'll start, it's been a while... Actually purposely drove to the city this early morning to have some me/camera time!

Our so called "city" is outgrown it's charm of being a town, and yet, hardly any modern architecture to keep up with the real city. Still... Such harsh sun this morning, so B&W just felt right:

Car Dealership

Look forward to seeing the modern architecture from your parts of the world!

As Iris points out, only one entry can be made for the challenge. It's always possible to enter more photos, but please make clear which one is eligible for judging! Thanks!

For this week I had an idea about photographing a light rail train stop - that's also some sort of architecture so I drove downtown early Sunday morning before the sun got too harsh.

Naturally, I also shot some of the office buildings in the area and I've picked this one over the train stop - I like the color of the refelction of the sky and the recessed windows with the yellow triangles which break the monotony.

Here is my take on modern architecture. I am not especially comfortable with architecture, especially these tall glass structures although I see other people capture amazing angles and images. I like the variety of reflections in this tower, some in shade, one obviously in the sun.

Anyone can post to it, I believe. Go ahead and upload photos if needed.
