PotW #139 November 7th to November 21nd
A big thank you to Karen who made last weeks PotW a great, great succes. I
understand why you couldn't get a successor, raising the bar that high!

Welcome to the 139th edition of the Pentax Forum's Photo of the Week! Let's try
to make this weeks edition as much of a success as last weeks.

PotW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your
cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their
Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We
can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another! So show us your week
and have fun.

Same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Under 6 images per post so the thread doesn't get too big.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday 7 November to Sunday 21November 2010. Enter anything you
shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible,
the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start
between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please
contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Well, unless somone else is typing right now I'll start it off with a wet flower after yesterday's rain.

Click image to view larger size.

SMC Pentax M 50mm f2 lens, f11 I think, maybe f16. Flash used, folded an envelope to reflect onto subject. This was taken with my binocular lens macro rig attached from about 4 inches away.

You have a tough act to follow, Rense.. Good luck with that and thanks for hosting this week.

Went to a craft type show yesterday to visit a friend who sometimes does these shows. Her niche is these types of objects

She does a lot of other things (place mats, kleenex box covers, etc) and actually use to make a living at this. Not really my thing but I was just there to visit her. Of course I took the K5 loaded with the DA*55. I tried some casual street shooting but in a way no one would have a clue I was taking photos. I set the camera to interval shoot at about 30 seconds and just walked around a bit with the camera (securely) hanging from the strap. Lots of blurry pictures but a few of them did turn out ok. Naturally, sometimes the best parts of these shows, is the people watching.

Here are a few..

My friend does not appear in any of these photos btw.

I have to say that the ability to boost the ISO and NOT use a Flash is a welcome one in situations like this. They're at about ISO 1250 if I remember correctly. I also think the AWB did a pretty nice job, certainly better than I'm use to.

Jeff, those are all nice shots, don't even think about asking me to pick a favorite...

And Rense, thanks for hosting. Last week was definitely a tough act to follow...

Thanks Rense, for taking over.
And to show you how thankful I am, here's a shot I took last week, with the SIN lens.

Real and fake

Pete, are drops going to be your theme this week? I think you are already doing a great job with those.
Jeff, you sneaky person

And one from last Thursday, when we went out to dinner with our neighbours.
I'm not very good at these kind of shots and everything went too fast. Before we knew it, the waitress was at our table again, I could hardly find the time to position myself and take a good shot.
This one is for the Deliberate Blur challenge on my T&C group on Flickr.

Hand held no flash. I spotted these a few days ago in the park at night so decided to try shooting them early this morning. The light is from a spotlight below.
I'm happy with how it turned out.

Also...great job Karen on hosting last week and Thanks for hosting this week Rense.

Wow Lisa, that looks so good.
What kind of processing did you do with it?
And thanks

In contrast to my previous moody black and white images from the Gravity And Grace dance festival, here are two shot at the opening night, 10 November 2010. I was rather busy creating a sound environment for the evening, which was partway between a free-form social event, art happening and dance recital. The mood was upbeat, the theme was "gold" and everyone was drinking White Russians.

Thanks for hosting this wekk's POTW Rense and I'm in total agreement about the superb job Karen did hosting the previous week.
Some bird pics from the park, lens used was a Russian 500mm mirror lens on the K5. I'be yet to use a modern lens on that camera.

Those are some of the best photos I have seen with that lens. Great work!

A few from the LiYu Lake Pazeh New Year's celebration. Was pouring rain the whole time but the performers were all troupers and went out under the down pour to do their tribal dances. Flickr set is here.
