POTW #141 - November 21 - December 5
Posted By: Tamia, 11-28-2010, 06:31 AM

Welcome to the 141th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!

Thanks to Dave for hosting last week and for asking me this week. Enjoy the game, Dave!

This edition covers photos taken between November 21st to December 5th, 2010, or shots from last week you haven't processed until now.

A special welcome to all new members: Join us old hands and post your shots from this week and last week!

Most important note to everyone: Remember, you can post your shots from this week AND last week!

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another which is great too!

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week.

Again same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday November 21st to Sunday December 5th 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

I'm a little early posting this new edition of POTW, because I'll be working today, and I'd rather let Dave off the hook early than late. Here are some photos from this last week to kick things off...

After Snowmelt

Thanks for hosting Tamia! I love those moss captures!
Here is one of mine.... It's the archbishop of Myra, eating soup with a straw....
For more info, visit Sinterklaas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. It appears he's the more serious nephew of Santa.....

Thanks for being our host this week, Tamia.
The shot of that cold dove is great.

LOL Rense about Sinterklaas, how is he going to eat his roll with garlic butter?

Great start, Rense! I remember Sinterklass from when I was a very small child. Elder relatives spoke of him "from the Old Country."

Karen, how will he eat the roll? With difficulty!

Nice start Tamia , the Dove looks like me ! Fattened up for the winter - good job on maintaing the hotlinks (your last link for your thread still points to the previous one just I thik you are just missing a comma before your 141 number)

Rense - cool I am with Karen a roll through a straw wouldbe something to see !

As Tamia mentioned I am off the to 'the game' today the 98th Grey Cup . No snow today , it's suppose to be -6C or so , very resoanble for this time of year. There will be 60k people or so. The day starts around noon where me and some friends will hit a local watering hole, then cab it to the stadium, have some hot ciders , wtach the game and then back to the watering hole - still depbating on if I am going to bring my camera - while there will be some sites for sure , not sure I want to carry that all day - drinking and shooting do not always mix

But I have one to post here's a DA 12-24 Self Protait that fits the time frame ha! I was breathing out to show my breath but it did not trun out ? It was cold that day (-24C or so) as the moustache indicates

O.k., I'll play! I've never posted in POTW before, not a very good photographer, but mostly enjoy the technical aspects.

Since this is Thanksgiving week, here are a some from family gatherings.

My grand-nephew in an interesting pose:

Pentax K100D Super, Super-Takumar 35mm f2

Another grand-nephew with his mom:

Pentax K1000, Pentax-M 50mm f2.0, Kodak Tri-X @ 1600 in Rodinal, semi-stand 90 min, Epson V500 scan.

The morning aftermath:

Pentax K1000, Vivitar-A 19mm f3.8, Kodak Tri-X @ 1600 in Rodinal, semi-stand 90 min, Epson V500 scan.

Tamia, thanks for hosting and getting this off to a good start! We haven't had a sticking snow yet here, the dove looks shocked (great shot).

Rense, nice shot, love the angle and detail of the table setting.

Dave, looks very cold, I your breath frosted your moustache

Joe, really like the candid first shot, what a look he's giving you

I took my wife and daughter shopping last night, they shopped and I enjoyed the lights etc. with my Super Tak 50/1,4:

Hey Dave, can't see the difference in the moustaches in this one and in your avatar: they seem equal grey to me

Joe, the more the merrier and practice makes perfect.
Like Rense I really like your last shot.

LOL Dave, I don't see a lot of difference in this shot and your avatar, beside the thing on your head.

Tom, nice evening shopping shots.

k0og that first shot is great. Love the look and perspective, lighting....well everything...

Tamia thanks for hosting this week.

One from me from yesterday. With some background...I was sitting on a short pier on the back side of a local lake, doing fine. Got a few good shots of Egrets and so forth, and suddenly the birds to the left all bailed. A few seconds later I heard the boat...which stopped right in front of the pier and the guy asked if I had caught anything. Since he was close enough he couldn't have missed the fact that I had no rods or tackle box, I wanted to ask if he ever used his head for anything but a hat rack...but I was nice, showed him the camera and said just a few pictures. He made another comment about fishing...grrrrr...I showed the K-x again and told him I was taking bird pictures. "Oh, I thoguht you were fishin"...and he cranked up the outboard again, rode maybe 30 feet, shut it off and started fishing, 75-100 feet in front of me, which of course meant no birds anywhere near there for at least an hour...after he left... sorry to be bitching, but I thought it was a little inconsiderate, he knew I was trying to take pictures, and he also knew his boat would scare off any birds for 100 yards or more...then after an hour or so he cranked up the outboard and roared right back by the pier, sat 100 yards away for 20 minutes and roared by yet again...

So I went to walk the bank for a while, and this Eastern Phoebe was the only thing I saw for the next 2 hours...

But I did get a few decent shots despite the 'good ol boy' incident...

Can't you people tell the difference between white grey and white - the really thick parts are ice I died my moustache just before Haloween for my costume - I did not reconize myself ! (it's worn off now). That thig on my head is a Toque a staple in my neck of the woods this time of year. Other Canadianism's are Chesterfield and going out and about (prounced a-boot) eh !

Tom - nice evening shots indeed and I am assuming hand held.

Paleo Pete - Too funny - some people are just stuborn I guess (and inconsiderate) - the beauty is you can just get up and walk away

Edit : Sometimes I paste faster than I cut doooooooooooooooooh
