POTW #142 November 28 - December 12
Posted By: JeffJS, 12-05-2010, 07:22 AM

Welcome to the 142nd edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!

Thanks to Tamia for hosting last week and for asking me this week.

This edition covers photos taken between November 28th to December 12th, 2010, or shots from last week you haven't processed until now.

A special welcome to all new members: Join us old hands and post your shots from this week and last week!

Most important note to everyone: Remember, you can post your shots from this week AND last week!

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another which is great too!

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week.

Again same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday November 28th to Sunday December 12th 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

I have some other stuff to do this afternoon so I'm posting this a little early. Here's one from the SIN album (Nov 30) to get it started.

Thanks for hosting Jeff. Your shot looks like the big bang to me.
And since you are hosting I'm going to give you a dog picture to start with

Pr1mo, at the beach having fun chasing the ball. At the other side of this sand dune there was a little stream of fresh water heading towards the sea. I was being mean by throwing the ball over the dune into that stream so he had to swim to get it. I hoped he would come back to me over the dune and not by walking around it. He didn't The background is a bit too distracting, I've tried it in b&w or selective colouring, but wasn't pleased with that.
Sorry, I still talk too much.
Here he comes:

Dave, you are still having a lot of snow?

Thanks for taking the reins, Jeff. Your photos of the model trains are quite realistic, scale-wise, that is they look larger. The backgrounds are great.

Dave, nice to have the sun!

Now why am I not surprised by seeing a dog photo from you Karen?! Pr1mo's eyes are quite wolf-like in this photo!

Interesting structure, Robin. Is it a bog, do you suppose? Shot with your new lens? Ah, edit, I see you did use the 135. Nice lens!

On my late-day hike the other day I discovered a beaver pond which was just icing up. I really liked the reflections of the snags on the slurry. Here's one I've processed...

Tamia, your photo looks more like a bog than mine!

But here's a little B&W number.

Thanks for hosting this week Jeff.

And Tamia, that pond scene is haunting!

Here are some images from yesterday's icy outing:

Karen - I love the playfullness of this shot and the flecks of sand he kicked up - ohh to be a dog (or at least see life through their eyes) well done.

Robin - interesting what the heck it that ? An extension of somme sort ? It looks weather beaten to say the least.

Tamia - Thanks for the comments - we have had a few days of clear skies (nice blue) and resonably warm weather. Nice shot of the beaver pond I like it, we have a couple around here - this shot reminds me I should get out there.

Robin - nice shot I like the fact the crow is OOF.

Mark - another great expression you have there - you should take your shots and update Wikepia for all the expression pages

Joe - nice series I really like the first one.

A few more "Hot Pics"

Greetings from the Hound.

Dave, it blows my mind that in a Hockey town, there is no dedicated ice rink for the public. Nice shots of the torches though.

Karen, Looks like Pr1mo is mighty proud of himself for A, finding the ball and B, not falling for your dune trick. I use to toss the ball for mine in hopes he'd bring it back. He finds it, sniffs it, and walks away. The last time I threw the ball for him, he found it, sniffed it, pissed on it, Then walked away. That was the last of our games of fetch.

Tamia, Thank you. The model trains are actually what originally rekindled my interest in photography. For you to say something like that is a great compliment. I've always looked forward to seeing your photos too. Especially those done recently. Very well done.

Robin, I'm liking the alley shot more than the statue shot. Always interesting to see what you come up with.

bbluesman, If street photography were my thing, I would aspire to do as well as you. I think I should stick to trains and dogs though

jmschrei, that just looks plain cold. I thank Dave for providing the torches in the next shot so I can warm my hands.

Thank you all, even if I don't respond as much as everyone else, I really enjoy these POTW threads. Love seeing other parts of the world through fellow Pentaxian's eyes all collected in one space.
