Pic of the Week 17 April thru 30 April
Posted By: SpecialK, 04-23-2011, 07:01 PM

Welcome to the 162st edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to JeremyTheIndian for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos taken between 17 April and 30 April. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

Rhododendron in the Rain

Those who were involved in the Single in March challenge would have seen as my first shot just the bud, my last shot the bud starting to open. Here's one just about fully opened during a light misting yesterday.

That's a beautiful flower John. TFS

I did not shoot any flower today. I got some bugs.

And a solitary one munches my sister's plants:

Good (early) morning! We are off to a good start.

jheu02 - Patience is a virtue, as someone said. I admire your determination.

photolady - Nice depth of focus on the first one. I'm sure those bugs are a real problem with farmers.

Thanks for hosting SpecialK. Here is a couple from my rather big collection for this past week. Had an eventuful week. First my 16 year old son from the US came for a week long visit, then off on a 350 km trek to the north of the country for a wedding and a visit to some friends. The wedding was held in one of the halls at an airport, so plenty of opportunities for shots of planes for the planes thread. And opportunities abounding for some shots for the "repetition "challenge.

Good Friday early morning moon.

Wind in your hair

City on a hill

Sunbird enjoying some nectar.

Have a good day. Don't know about the rest of the world, but here in South Africa, it is a public holiday here tomorrow, and an opportunity to get the trigger finger on the Pentax!

Cheerio

That a nice shot of the moon. And the bird, I've never seen. Probably not a bird we have here in the States. And since I'm retired, I have holidays all year.

Here some I took today just bumming around the yard.

Thanks for hosting SpecialK

A couple from last week's trip to Texas, almost too old to post, but just barely eligible.

Tufted Titmouse before

And after the birdbath.

I thought I had uploaded one just before he jumped into the birdbath, but it didn't make it. Both shot through windows with Vivitar 200 mm f3.5 M42 lens. I seem to be using it a whole lot these days.

Another one from yesterday, same lens, a Red Bellied Woodpecker pair swapping places at their nest. 99% luck, I was focusing on the one coming in just as the other one hopped out. I've been watching these two for several days, posted a shot of one of them also in the Wildlife thread, from the other side of the tree. Also posted some other shots of the birdbath there, might be another shot of the same Titmouse, I can't remember...

Woodpeckers

I'm still playing catch up, last weekend was pretty hectic, and have several other shots that may get uploaded in time to post here from the past week.

Looks like we are (mostly) in a nature stretch, something I do not get the opportunity to shoot much of.

Noel - I like the bike rack. What is that sphere in the cityscape? How is an airport wedding planned - on the fly? :-)

Photolady - I like that first sunflower. Maybe a square crop would work, too?

Paleo Pete - I can't see much difference before and after the bath :-)

It's spring!

I am busy processing shots from weeks gone by, but will try to do some for this POTW as well.

A little extreme macro shooting today, using a special extension I made for my 18-55mm DA L ll lens, I attached it to my Sigma 70-300mm just to see how it would work. The first is a Blackberry.

This one was shot without the adapter.
Just a bug.
